 do i search for people from certain companies. eg. if i'm looking for a VP from Dell, BP. what's the best string you would suggest?

If I have a company name and it's as high as a VP, I will usually just start by going to the companies website to see if I can find that person or contact info for corporate. You can probably pretty easily call into the company and ask to speak to the person if you have a name. If you don't you may have to try and do a little additional research to get a name. A little more time consuming if you dont have a name though.....

best string would be

 

(VP OR vice) AND (dell OR BP) -jobs -job -apply -submit

 

This will give you a hell lot of results... you need to filter your search by putting additional fields like department, skill, area of work, location etc
