Boolean Strings Network

The Internet Sourcing Community

In preparation for my webinar on Friday I spent quite some time exploring twitter. It is a fantastic tool and by the way it can be successfully used for sourcing together using Boolean searches either within twitter OR on Google or another search engine. I do not nessesarily mean X-raying Twitter! :)

I think that those who try to recruit on twitter often restrict themselves too much because they use twitter only in ways similar to other social networks such as LI.

Following and being followed doesn't necessarily need to resemble connecting on LI.
As an example, you could create a separate twitter ID for jobs with particular set of skills, then post your jobs, talk about things interesting to your potential candidates and follow those candidates, to create a temporary audience, as a sourcing strategy.
Another example of using twitter for recruiting is that you can find your potential candidates elsewhere, locate them on twitter and "talk" to them there, which could be more efficient than emailing them.

You can be creative in your strategies using twitter; there's a lot to explore. You can also use tools that help being productive in the sourcing process such as following multiple people/IDs at once.
I am interested to hear about others' positive experience and success using twitter. I don't think though that there are companies or recruiters that use twitter to its fullest extent yet.
I will talk about possible strategies in detail in my webinar on Friday.

There are hundreds (if not more) applications to make using/following/sourcing on Twitter very helpful - here is a comprhensive list:

Gary,

Yes, of course, and thanks for the list.
The explosion of applications around Twitter makes choosing sourcing strategies more interesting and more challenging. It helps to hear about some of the best applications. However chasing all of the hundreds of apps takes time and am not sure it's productive for a sourcer. Thanks to members like you for pointing out some of the best; perhaps we should have more discussions around that.

My thoughts about Twitter in the post are no so much about tools but more about creative strategies and productivity. I see new ways to use twitter (without running too many tools) that can lead to sourcing and recruiting success. I have touched upon some in the post. I will outline those strategies in the webinar tomorrow.
