Monday Contest, SN Edition, answers to Question Two

Create a Boolean string on a major search engine such as Google or Yahoo that returns the largest number of LinkedIn profiles of people in finances/accounting.

I will list some answers I got to this one.

site:linkedin.com (inurl:in|pub) (Accounting|Financial|Finance|Tax) -intitle:directory -inurl:answers -inurl:updates -inurl:jobid -inurl:find -inurl:events - (Kameron) ~1,000 results (couldn't be better)

site:linkedin.com (financial | accounting | account | finance | financing | accounts) (inurl:pub | inurl:in) (Raj) (not bad but includes some events along with profiles)

site:linkedin.com inurl:pub | inurl:in "current * audit " | "current * auditing" | "current * auditor" | "current * cfo" | "current * finance" | "current * financial" | "current * accounting" | "current * accountant" | "current * accounts" | "chartered accountant" | "current * gl" | cfa | cpa | aca | acca | acma | cima | fca -inurl:events - interesting apporach, based on certification abbreviations. It works.

site:linkedin.com "industry * accounting" | "industry accounting" | "industry financial services" |"industry * financial services" inurl:pub -inurl:events (Medhavi) - this doesn't work as well; it brings a lots of people from the industry but many of them have non-financial functions (such as they teach)

site:www.linkedin.com accountant -intitle:directory -intitle:company -intitle:groups -inurl:updates -inurl:find -inurl:answers -inurl:jobid
(Gary) - great strings, brings us ~1,000 people in accounting

site:linkedin.com (inurl:in OR inrul:pub) (industry = accounting)
(Sarang)
Here are my comments on this string. It seems that the idea may have been to find people whose industry is accounting. However Google ingores the special symbol = and the string in fact works the same as
site:linkedin.com (inurl:in OR inrul:pub) industry accounting

The results have many relevant results but many irrelevant results as well. I'd be glad to discuss this in more detail if your are interested.

Thanks all! If I missed adding your string here, please reply and tell us what is it.

Hi Irina,

Thanks for appreciating my approach for the first string. As you have mentioned second search string gives professionals from finance/accounting industry. I completely agree. However I did mention the same in the mail that I had sent.

Once again thanks for coming up with such a wonderful website which has helped us to develop boolean skills.

Kind Regards,
Medhavi
