The Internet Sourcing Community

Here's a little LinkedIn trick discovered by one of our group members.

If you and someone you are interested in belong to the same LinkedIn group, you can send them a message (for free), as part of LI functionality. (Of course, you shouldn't be sending "spam" messages!)

If you send someone a message and check the "send me a copy" checkbox, you will see the person's email address, even if he/she forgets to respond to your message.

What a great tip! You are always a wealth of information. Thanks.
Thanks again, Irina. If I needed the contact info off hundreds of LI profiles, what would be the best ways to do it myself, and if I were to pay someone to do just that, what would be an appropriate range?

Cheers,

Irina:

I am assuming this is valid only with the users who share the same group.
People who has free access to LI cannot email everyone with inmail limitations.

Thanks

Raj,
Yes, this is true if you and the other person share the same group for you to be able to message them for free.

So it's useful to join the groups where you are likely to find people you are looking for. You can search for those groups using the "group search" function on linkedin. When you search, the groups will be listed in the order of their size.

Irina:
Totally agree to you on that, but again LI free access limits you to join only 50 groups for one account.
If I have to email potential contacts the list is bigger than that.

Do we have a solution to it OR can we increase the # of groups in the same account.

Raj,
Yes, of course, you are right (though some groups are very large, tens of thousands people). Also the majority of people on LI don't participate in any groups at all.

There are many other ways to find someone's email address if you have the person's LinkedIn profile. Do you want to start a new forum discussion on this topic?

Irina,

That would be a great discussion. Especially going from LinkedIn profile information --> email. Sometimes LinkedIn users don't respond to Inmail and it can be useful to have a direct email.
