With the loss of LinkedIn "Signal", what is the most effective way to search the status updates from your network on LinkedIn? There is a wealth of info contained in these data streams. So, I'd be interested in knowing what methods others are using to find the info for which they are seeking?

Hi everyone!

Yesterday I was doing some research on a company with LinkedIn and I found something really odd. Supposedly the NOT operator denies whatever is "next" in the boolean expressions.

In the Company field I put the name of the company and I got 1,215 results.

Then, I added the "oracle" keyword (without double quotes) in the Keywords field. It showed me 46 results.

Finally I thought that if I try...

I also checked several profiles and many of them don't mention the word Oracle or reference to the Oracle company in their profiles. In fact, most of them are incomplete.

Am I doing anything wrong? Or is it a common behaviour since LinkedIn's latest rollout?

Thanks in advance!

For those members who have access to LinkedIn Recruiter or RPS:

I'd like to open a discussion on how to use it in productive ways. They have some good documentation and training, so we'll be looking at additional information and tips.

For me personally, InMails on LinkedIn, available in "personal" packages as well in in LinkedIn Recruiter, are worth paying for. Of course, being great sourcers we can figure out how to contact the target candidate otherwise but it takes extra time. If we are not connected and do not share groups, InMail is an excellent way to go. LinkedIn Recruiter offers a large number of InMails and also mass-InMailing.

Extra search facets and seeing more search results within a search do not matter as much to me.

Working with your teams through projects is useful functionality. If you didn't have Recruiter I suppose it could be arranged through another system.

The main attraction for me and the best feature is the Talent Pipeline. From talking with others, it seems that it's currently under-used.

The Talent Pipeline allows us to upload resumes or excel lists with names and contact info to our account and have this info "stick" to LinkedIn profiles if there's a match. If there's a matching profile, you get additional info for that profile, such as a resume or contact info, "attached" to it. Automatic matching works very reliably.

For the cases of a potential match, we are offered to attach external info to a matching profile we would locate manually, by searching.

Finally, if there's no match, LinkedIn creates an object "like" a LinkedIn profile. Here's what it looks like:

As the result of an upload we get a database to search within, consisting BOTH of LinkedIn data and our own private data. This is what I find to be the most valuable piece of the package.

Your comments and shared tips are welcome!

This is how an uploaded list (in this case, I got the list from GitHub) added to a project looks like:

4. Send the message.

My question is, when I do this as a test, it doesn’t appear to work. I’ve tried this several times using a colleague as my 1st level contact then adding my ID# to the recipient box. As a result, my colleague receives the message but I never do.

Am I doing something wrong?

Having attended a number of Irina's (excellent) webinars, I have been made aware of the many differences in LinkedIn functionality between the USA and South Africa. We seem to be limited in SA. One example is the fact that we are not given the option to sort by groups in Linkedin. This has not been a major problem because Irina has shown us how to x-ray the groups and get access to the members but the fact remains that the site does not work the same for users in different countries.
