The Internet Sourcing Community

Many large companies have alumni websites. Few will publish directories but some will give you some access to them. To find the appropriate site simply type companyname alumni into Google. When you get the alumni site URL you can search for
site:alumniname.com (+ optional keywords) and see what may be found "inside". Always remember to look for all of the results (with the "omitted results included").

Let's look at some examples for large consulting companies.

IBM site: ibmalumni.com. You can search for alumni here:
http://ibmalumni.com/searchapp/search.aspx (great resource!)
On the following sites you can register as a recruiter and post jobs free of charge IF they are not for competitors
Accenture: www.accenturealumni.com
Deloitte: www.alumni.deloitte.com
Bearingpoint: bearingpoint.alumniprogram.com
etc.

Companies have their alumni groups on Yahoo groups, Facebook, LinkedIn and other places. Some of them will let you be a member. I am a member of Google and Cisco alumni groups on Facebook. I've posted jobs in the past on alumni groups on yahoo through their moderators or through a link like the one presented on this page:
http://finance.groups.yahoo.com/group/i2_alum/

There are alumni groups on LinkedIn. While you can't join one if you are not an alumni, you can search from Google. Here are some examples.

site:linkedin.com "Accenture Alumni Worldwide Group"
site:linkedin.com "Club ex-Oracle.org"
site:linkedin.com "Motorola Alumni"
site:linkedin.com "PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) employees and alumni"
site:linkedin.com "Ernst & Young Alumni"

The same is true about university alumni pages. A LI group would have a URL of an alumni site associated with it.

Then, of course, there's college alumni groups and sites. For some searches it may be useful to explore MBA programs alumni sites. Almost always they will have job postings. Here's one, as an example.
http://mycareer.wharton.upenn.edu/alumni/

You can try to search for contacts by doing site:mycareer.wharton.upenn.edu/alumni/ or even
site:mycareer.wharton.upenn.edu alumni

College alumni often get "alum" email addresses that they like using since these addresses will always be there.

As an example, Berkeley alumni will have emails ending with alumni.berkeley.edu

If in your search for alumni you arrive at a page with contact info for many people try using Broadlook Contact Capture.
As an example, use it on the page https://alumni.berkeley.edu/Alumni/Clubs/Contact_Us.asp
and you will get a list of people with their contacts:
First Last Title Email Company City State Zip Website Phone1 Phone2
Adri Hallenberger Program Manager, Alumni Events & Groups adri.hallenberger@alumni.berkeley.edu Special Interest Alumni Groups 510-643-5658
Annette Ramirez Director, Alumni Events & Groups annette.ramirez@alumni.berkeley.edu Regional Alumni Groups 310-372-8807

etc.

Can others add to this?
