Boolean Strings Network

The Internet Sourcing Community

Did a quick search here on the network to see if this has been discussed before, but what seems to be the best way to customize a string for a Canada search? I've tried localizing the google search to Canada and also tried using just the area Toronto, Canada in the search. Should I try to narrow down the results by using the phone number area codes?

Nathan,

If you are looking for LinkedIn profiles, use this string on Google

site:ca.linkedin.com

and add the name of the province in quotation marks; there are 9 options:

Toronto, Canada Area
Montreal, Canada Area
Vancouver, Canada Area
Calgary, Canada Area
Ottawa, Canada Area
Ontario, Canada
Kitchener, Canada Area
British Columbia, Canada
Edmonton, Canada Area

You would have to exclude links that are not profiles (such as directories). As an example, you could search on Google using a string like this

site:ca.linkedin.com "Kitchener, Canada Area" -inurl:dir "engineering manager"

In LinkedIn searches Yahoo may produce more results than Google so try it as well.
You can try the following in Google for Linkedin profiles:

site:ca.linkedin.com keywords skills title "toronto canada area" (inurl:in | inurl:pub) -inurl:dir -inurl:jobs

(That is the actual Canadian LinkedIN site that you will find profiles on - just replace keywords skills or title with actual ones you are searching for)

OR

Try this for the US linkedin profiles using the Canadian areas you are seeking:

site:www.linkedin.com keywords skills title "toronto canada area" (inurl:in | inurl:pub) -inurl:dir -inurl:jobs

Gary
Hi Nathan,
Outside of LinkedIn, from Google try: (Toronto OR Montreal OR Vancouver OR Calgary OR Ottawa OR Ontario OR Kitchener OR British OR Edmonton) "Brand Manager" site:jigsaw.com OR site:zoominfo

(Brand Manager was just an example)

Good Luck!
Chrissy
