Boolean Strings Network

The Internet Sourcing Community

I am curious whether many of you use blog search for sourcing, and if you do, what your preferred way of searching is. Do you use Icerocket? Technorati? Google using intitle:blog or something like that? Use Google blog search? What are the pluses and the minuses?

This string is a basic template that can be used by changing key words, locations:

In Google:

cpa ("new jersey" | nj) (built | created | designed | worked) (intitle:~blog | inurl:~blog) ~resume -job -jobs -send -submit -you

Here are some blog search sites:

http://www.twingly.com/microblogsearch
http://www.icerocket.com/ (as you mentioned)
Another approach is to try to extract all the !hosted! blogs and their 'about' pages using google. And then search them using your keywords. It seems to work for the german market. We discussed it in our blog last week.

Here is the initial string (for US) you can start to work with:

(site:*.wordpress.com | site:*.blogspot.com | site:xanga.com/* | site:*.vox.com | site:*.blogger.com) (inurl:about | inurl:profile | inurl:"about-me" | inurl:"author")

Now add a keyword and/or location.

e.g.

(site:*.wordpress.com | site:*.blogspot.com | site:xanga.com/* | site:*.vox.com | site:*.blogger.com) (inurl:about | inurl:profile | inurl:"about-me" | inurl:"author") (java | J2EE) developer
Hi Alexander and Gary

Thank you for sharing the stings

Cheers
