Finding candidates on Linkedin but need email address to connect with them

Hi! I just joined this site and I'm new to all this. I'm entering boolean strings in Google and I'm able to find candidates on Linkedin. But when I try to send them a connection request a window is displayed that asks for their email address. Has anyone else run into this problem? Is there a way to send a candidate a connection request without having their email address?

If you select that the person is your "friend" on the screen that asks you how you know them, you should be able to send a connection request without having their e-mail address. Hope that helps!
