After running boolean strings searches for certain job requirements through Google and/or Bing I am able to find numerous qualified candidates and view their LinkedIn profiles; however, since I am not able to afford to upgrade my LinkedIn account I cannot send InMail nor can I contact these valuable candidates.
What do I do now? How can I reach out to these candidates?
Most of the candidates that I find are 3rd level connections for me through LinkedIn. Do I ask to get introduced for every single person or is there a better way?
I am frustrated. What is the use of knowing how to write a boolean string when you are not able to contact the candidates in the search results?
I just invite the person to connect - saying "We've done business together" and then write a very short message letting them know who I am and why I want to engage with them. I ask them to accept my invitation if they're open to a chat. I have never been turned down. The key is making sure your message says who you are and what you want and it MUST be personalised. Your message must show that you've done your homework.
Some people just accept my invitation so I am then able to mail them directly. Others send me their contact numbers (mobile) and let me know when it suits them for me to phone.
I have to say that I only do this if I am not able to get hold of the person by calling the switchboard at the company where they work. Hope this helps
You can Google their name as Kevin has mentioned, you can also see what groups they belong to on LI and join that group - then you can send them a message for free as all group members can send free messages to each other without being 1st connections.
There are also many look-up sites for contact info, here are just a 'few' examples:
and many more-
