Job Responsibilities:

•    Apply probabilistic, machine learning and data mining techniques to build models to improve relevance and user
experience of search results
•    Deep dive into the data to understand and apply patterns, while
maintaining a sense of the big picture
•    Consistently identifies and fills gaps in information required to understand issues, major
trends, problems, and causes. Generates and considers extensive options
for actions; develops decision criteria; selects the strategy most
likely to succeed
•    Work closely with the team to develop solutions and put the
research results into action
•    Provide thought leadership to guide the direction of Bing Search Relevance product and services


As part of this team you will be analyzing and mining huge data sets,
writing scalable components and working on leveraging machine learning
algorithms. Qualified candidates will: demonstrate solid design skills
and fluency with C/C++ and C#/.NET 3.5; have good documentation,
unit-testing, and debugging practices; demonstrate good systems
programming skills; have a minimum of 5 years of development experience
in the above area; be self-motivated and directed and be able to work
constructively with a wide variety of personalities and changing
business priorities.

Experience with statistical data analysis, distributed systems, classification algorithms, ontology’s and open source tools and
languages is a big plus, and a BS/ MS degree in Computer Science or a
related discipline is preferred.


Required skills/qualifications:

•    Graduation(B.S./M.S.) in computer science, statistics, mathematics, or
equivalent.  Ph.D. a plus.
•    Strong background in statistical modeling, machine learning and data mining
•    Excellent analytical skills: skill and ability to: collect,
organize, synthesize and analyze data; summarize findings; develop
conclusions and recommendations; define requirements and develop
solutions
•    Proven ability to translate insights into business recommendations and solution development
•    A minimum of 5 or more years experience in one or more of the
following areas:  data driven methods in computational linguistics,
information retrieval, speech recognition, machine translation, image
processing, fraud prevention engineering or other related fields
•    Strong programming skills in C/C++
•    Strong communication and collaboration skills
