Boolean Strings Network

The Internet Sourcing Community

Hi,
I am fairly new to the world of boolean searching however I thought I was OK at in until I found this website :-)

At the moment, I use monster to search for candidates who have specific skill sets to the industry that I recruit for and I below is an example of a search string that I use...

("New Business" or "Business Development" or "Account Manager" or "Field Sales" or "New Business") and ("mobile phones" or telecom* or PBX)

is there a better was of searching for more specific contact using a good string that may work with Google as well?

I cover the whole of the UK and look for sales people to sell mobile phones or fixed line telecom to business customers.

I am sure that there is a better method to what I am doing and any help or advise would be great.

Thanks

Hi Scott,

Please try this string on Google Engine..........

("New Business" | "Business Development" | "Account Manager" | "Field Sales" | "New Business") ("mobile phones" | telecom* | PBX) (intitle:resume | inurl:resume | intitle:cv | inurl:cv | intitle:Curriculum vitae | inurl:Curriculum vitae) -opening -submit -apply -free -sample -samples -eoe -job -jobs -"resume service"

Do let me know your feed on that...

Scott,

Try x-raying Linkedin from Google.

site:linkedin.com inurl:UK (inurl:pub OR inurl:med) sales (mobile OR wireless OR "fixed telecom")

Then - try to get your target companies and list them...

("sales manager" OR "business development manager" OR "account manager") AND (target1 OR target2) -jobs -apply
This will work wonder as you will get their direct contact details as well. Sales / marketing guys has good presence on the web.

Welcome to the magical world of Boolean.

Hi Manick,

excellent search string, really appreciate the time you have taken - can I just ask if there is a way to make the search localised for example london area or birmingham area?

Thanks

Hi Guys,

thought I would ask the experts here - is there anyway to turn this string on its head and search for companies that are advertising the words jobs, vacancies or careers within a specic area ? any advise here would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks peeps.

Scott
Scott-

You would be better off using a job aggegrator such as indeed.com or simplyhired.com (or others) to search for specific co's that have job openings in the areas u seek. I believe indeed.com has a site specific to the UK (check there home page)-
