Search String Help to find Companies on LinkedIn

Need help to develop search string to find specific companies.  I gather you can x-ray LinkedIn for current and past companies.  Would someone help me with the string?

On Google, try
site:http://www.linkedin.com/companies (add your keywords)

Use the following:

site:linkedin.com "current * ibm" (inurl:in | inurl:pub) -inurl:dir

You can add another * if needed.

You can also just add the company names to the string if needed.

Try just xraying the actual company: site:www.cisco.com

Gary, Thanks for the help, I am working feverishly to profile the client I am working on. And that is why I asked about companies and groups. From the company boolean search I am finding current and past employees then going to cross reference the companies and groups these people belong to. It is a new client, new technology space and the groups they belong to. It is a very niche technology group I am recruiting for.
