Boolean Strings Network

The Internet Sourcing Community

There was an interesting chat lead by Julia Stone yesterday on RBC. Julia talked about using Internet research for business development (and for a variety of goals other than sourcing candidates). One idea was that if you know a company's Org chart, it makes it easier to call in and try to develop business with them; you send emails to people and cc others; drop names in phone conversations etc.

How do YOU use Boolean search/internet research to find potential clients?

Here is a site that captures org charts: http://www.cogmap.com
In my position as an "internet researcher" I do very basic research for all of the recruiters in my office. They are all niche specialists, so I look for the companies in their specialty areas and find as much information as possible so that they are making slightly warmer calls. Usually I am not looking for very, very specific information but gathering enough to point the recruiter in the right direction.
