Boolean Strings Network

The Internet Sourcing Community

Hey,

I have been following this page and similar others for a while now and have learnt many super tips.  Taking that knowledge and putting it together I have created as string for a Account Director role that I have.  I am seeking CV's in my search.

Below is my string, which disappointingly seems not to bring me results.  I have tried various different keywords, but no luck.  What is it that I am missing in putting this together?

(intitle:CV OR inurl:CV OR intitle:curriculum vitae OR inurl:curriculum vitae) (objective OR summary) (experience OR history) ("Retail Food" AND "Account Manager" OR "Account Director") -job -jobs -sample -samples -template -”CV service” -”CV writers” -”CV writing” ("UK" OR "United Kingdom").

I opted to use CV rather than resume as being UK based, it seems to be the most preferred description here.  Would anyone be so kind to explain where I have gone wrong, so that I can correct it and learn better for next time?

Thank you so very much

Justine

Try this one on Google engine..

("account manager" | "account director") (retail | fmcg) (intitle:resume | inurl:resume | intitle:cv | inurl:cv | intitle:Curriculum vitae | inurl:Curriculum vitae) -job -jobs -apply -submit -sample (uk | "united kingdom" | london)

Paul

This is really helpful Paul - Thank you.

Just looking at the string and can see you have removed a few options and used | instead of AND / OR.

Is this a more concise way of writing strings - just wanting to learn more on this subject so I can improve future ones?

Thanks

Justine

Hi Paul (and Justine by extension)

You need to to put double quotations around "curriculum vitae" in your intitle: command as otherwise Google will look for curriculum in the title and require vitae somewhere in the document, for all results.

As a shortcut, the word "vitae" is so seldom used in any other context that inurl:vitae OR intitle:vitae works just fine.

This is great info - thank you for sharing.  I had not noticed about the quotation marks.  Appreciate the tip about using just vitae - going to give this a try straight away.

Thanks so much
