Google Custom Search Engine - Syntax

Hi everyone,

I have been trying to use Google's custom search engine feature; however I am not quite confident in terms of how reliable it is as oppose to doing pure x-ray searches.

If I have to search site www.sidailydose.com which includes lot many Indian profiles - I will try following in google.

site:sidailydose.com search string.... This works perfectly. I get lots of results.

However, in CSE - I tried adding variations of following URLs; however it does not give me the exact numbers as oppose to pure x-ray search.

www.sidalydose.com
sidailydose.com
www.sidailydose.com/profiles/*
sidailydose.com/profiles/*

Can anyone help me here what's wrong? Even if I add all these URLs at once - it does not show me required results. I tried posting this to Google; however did not get any good answer.
