Shaikh,

try:

site:linkedin.com ("sales manager" OR "of sales" OR "business development") "Area, India" Industry*Hospitality (inurl:pub OR inurl:in) -inurl:updates -intitle:directory -inurl:answers

this should work in google, altavista/yahoo.

you can also try Industry*"Events Services" (or Industry*Events.Services)

if you want to narrow to specific city, add city name to the Area portion, for example "Bangalore Area, India"

where it comes to cities, with India locations you'll need to spell the city name correctly with the correct balarama font i.e. sanskrit/hindi, like Mahbūbnagar or Rāichūr and whichever other locations have this, or it won't work. (fyi same story with Norway, Spain, Sweden, other places where things like this occur w/the letters)

or,

go to maps.google.co.in and enter something like:

category:"Travel - Hotels" loc:bangalore

then call into the hotels and ask to talk with someone who can sell you food/convention/event space

many other things you can do, but these should keep you busy

Paul

Shaikh,

i was also going to say try this:

http://www.yellowpages.co.in/search_result2.php?search_query=hotels...

passive search... hmmm interesting when it comes to sales in hospitality. it is difficult to find passive sales people in hospitality because 1) sales people tend to be findable, and 2) because the hospitality by nature wants to be found. so there's a pretty good chance (i'm guessing here) that almost all sales managers in hospitality in India will be found in more than one place, and if they don't have profiles on linkedin/spoke or if they're not listed in hospitality association directories/events, then the best thing to do would be call into the actual hotels (after listing) and find that way. in fact, recruiting for such people around 2000 - 2001 the best result i had was to really just make a list of the hotels/restaraunts and call in (sometimes as an "angry customer" lol) - but things have changed a bit with the advent of all the biz/social networks...

what would be interesting, is if you would while doing this just track how many people you find via calling into the hotels, are also online with a profile somewhere.

i did a quick search myself (curiosity, since I used to recruit in that space) for hospitality generally in India, and it generated a spreadsheet with around 850 hospitality leads there. i can send now, just let me know your email : )

Shaikh, it depends on what you are looking for.

If you give me a few examples of the types you usually recruit, or will need to recruit, I can help further. To start though, view search from a sourcing standpoint a few ways. One is pure names generation/headhunting in a "tactical" sense; another way of sourcing is to become known, who knows you and in what sense, in your use of online networks and in-person networking. Think about these things, and let me know now what sorts of IT and Engineering people you usually need.
