Can someone please help me with the string to find a production supervisor with experience in fresh citrus. The position is based out of Calipatria, CA
Hi, Keith! Honestly, I don't think you should go about this particular search via Boolean. At the supervisor level, within a blue-collar enviroment like this, you need to shoot at the heart of nearby competition. I happen to be from CA and this area is desert with a lot of (fellow) Mexican population. So, I looked at www.superpages.com and requested manufacturers within 50 miles of this city. Then, I cross-referenced the results with a basic Google Boolean of: calipatria california (manufacture or manufacturing) -job -jobs. When reviewing their city website, it makes sense that there are only a small handful of companies located there as the population is about 7k. So, on this one, given the research above, I have developed for you a 3-prong approach:
1. Get on the phone first with some of the key contacts at the chamber of commerce. It's a small town and their website is simplistic and the leaders are easy to reach. Tell them your predicament and ask for help. People love to help! Run with the contacts and give this a week or two for the communication to penetrate.
2. Call the core 7 competitors in the evening, when 2nd shift is working. Chances are, their production supervisor will pick up the phone. If it's security, simply ask for the PS's name for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shift. They'll need to get back to work so they usually will give the info directly and get off the phone. As you know, these types won't have emails, so call them. Because it's a production floor, no privacy. If they're warm at all, ask to call them that evening at home.
3. Because I live in a small town, you might have some great luck with the unemployment office where everyone will know who's been layed-off, which companies have downsized locally, and get some great referrals!
