Recruiters need to remember the one thing they offer candidates, is HOPE. I recently participated in the Columbus NBC4, HR Hotline, along with Buckeye Resumes (A Job Search and Resume Coach) and the Ohio Job and Family Services Dept.. We were there to help fellow Ohioians search for work, use internet tools, give tips and suggestions. I had many conversations, with different individuals - all looking for one thing - HOPE. And after each conversation the individual was truly thankful, to know this knowledge that we have and use everyday.
The next candidate you talk to - even if they are not a fit for your opening or company - Remember you are still able to give them the HOPE they need to help find work, in this economy. Maybe it is a hint on how to improve their resume, an interview tip, an internet site that may help their search, a networking group - or any bit of information that may help them. Take a minute with each candidate this week, this month or longer and give them HOPE
