Boolean Strings Network

The Internet Sourcing Community

I am looking for some more info on proximity searches that I can train recruiters on how to find recent college graduates. i have developed one string but cannot seem to be able to include year and that is important. We typically look for recent grads or upcoming grads so if we could add "2016" in our search that would get us 2016 graduates.

anyone seen or done a successful search?

site:www.linkedin.com graduated NEAR:4 ("Georgia Institute of Technology" OR 'GA TECH") and "greater atlanta"

Thank you

John

John,

Proximity search using search engines is somewhat tricky. Google has an undocumented operator AROUND, but it doesn't always work. Bing has a (documented) operator NEAR - but, it seems, it's not working very well either.

Another global search engine Yandex is worth your attention is this case.

This is a search for all the words to be in one sentence:

"graduated" & "Georgia Institute of Technology" & 2016

This is a search for the words being not further apart than two words in-between:

"Georgia Institute of Technology" /2 2016

I hope it helps.

Irina

Dear Irina,

The below search string does not work

"graduated" & "Georgia Institute of Technology" & 2016

Regards,

Danny
