Newly minted recruiter..trying to learn the basics of Boolean Search Strings

I'm an idiot (shameless) trying to figure out the basics of using Boolean search strings? Particularly with Google to find quality candidates. Any advice you can provide would be much appreciated...

Check out jobmachine as well. Shally is great... he offers free webinars on occassion... Also invest in his cheatsheets, they can help you out tremendously.
Regina,

I really appreciate the tip on Jobmachine and using the cheatsheets. I'll keep you posted on how they work.

Be well,

Silas
Just Google .. there are plenty of free stuff.. I wouldn't pay ANYTHING to learn the basics. More than 90% of sourcing related material are available for free online.
The only best sites are Jim Strouds ,Barbara Ling and Glenn Gutmacher/Shally.. They have been writing for years and the best ones for sourcing ideas. Most of others are RECYCLERS.
Totally agree, no need to pay for it, get yourself a feed reader (Google Reader, Bloglines, etc.) and subscribe to the hundreds of recruiting/sourcing blogs freely available. Several great sites have already been suggested.

Rithesh,

Your advice and counsel is SPOT on! I checked out Jim Strouds on Twitter, then Glen/Shally on Jobmachine - the free cheat sheets they provide has already lead me to candidates through Google - Linkedin. I still need to study the boolean - to create my own cheatsheets...I really appreciate the advice.

Be well,

Silas
Kameron,

Silas,

I was trying to cover the "minimal" Google syntax for a beginner in this article, so that a person can get going with sourcing on Google. I would be very interested in your feedback.
“Googlean” for Sourcing and Internet Research
