Was looking into this. My approach, generally speaking, is to generate a list of related terms/concepts common to the target, and from that generate a list of target titles/companies to help narrow it down a bit as well.
When I'm not familiar with the subject matter (so often the case!), this involves a fair bit of research and time before I'm able to start turning out good non-obvious (ie: other than the 'low hanging fruit') results from a search. A major downside to this approach is that it's slow.
I was looking for tools that might assist in more rapidly generated related terms, and once I got through a few pages of Google results for programming (web content managment stuff), I saw a result for a LifeHacker article that referenced Onelook (http://www.onelook.com/reverse-dictionary.shtml).
Less useful on multi-word concept search terms, unfortunately, but I may not be using it right.
Seems like mostly you're looking at financial analysts, accountants, auditors, legal folks, though. Forensic accounting specialists, perhaps? Not familiar with UK terminology for this type of profession (barely knowledgeable of US lingo in this case).
I'm not exactly a search string construction expert, and of course you'd probably need a variety of them anyway, but once you've got keywords down it's not so hard.
Pika,
Please use this string on Google engine...
(UK | "United Kingdom" | London | England) ("asset tracing"| "corporate investigator" | "corporate investigation" | "corporate intelligence") (intitle:resume | inurl:resume | intitle:cv | inurl:cv | intitle:Curriculum vitae | inurl:Curriculum vitae) -job -jobs -apply -submit -sample
Do let me know your feedback...

Dear Pika,
Due to bit tight schedules not able to give you much time don't mind & sorry about that..please use the below mentioned string on Google Engine for Linkedin profiles from UK only. Hope this will meet your req. And other thing I could generate more accurate strings on this reg. but the result could be very narrow. So, the string I gave thats broader so that can cover the max result.
site:uk.linkedin.com ("asset tracing"| "corporate investigator" | "corporate investigation" | "corporate intelligence") (inurl:pub | inurl:in) -dir
And you are always welcome for any assistance & also can hook me in your network..
Regards
Paul
