Boolean Strings Network

The Internet Sourcing Community

Hi All,

I will be part of the SourceCon panel discussing paid resources - such as job boards, LinkedIn paid accounts, etc. I'd like to ask you what you use and like or dislike?

(No responses from vendors, please.)

Thanks

Irina

Good day all!  My company uses Career Builder.  All in all it's a great board.

What I like:

Refinement capability

Talent Demographics

Large pool of candidates

What I think can be improved:

Security Clearance validation (that's asking a lot of them)

large Pool of candidates- large boards get a bad name because candidates get "lost" in the system

Branched sections within career builder according to industry

What I dislike:

I can sometimes feel myself becoming a bit dependent on it from time to time and not thinking outside of the box as much as I should (aka being a tad bit lazy) when i should be using my CSEs and other CSEs that were shared with me, Boolean bar, internet mining etc.  It's VERY easy to get sucked into thinking that is all that is out there because "Career Bulder said so," if you are unfamiliar with "unconventional" searching methods.

I think that is enough "quote" usage for the day!  Cheers!  Have a great day all!

I'm a big fan of Indeed. There are a few advantages that I've seen first hand.

-You can set your advertising budget to as little or as much as you want and you can spread your budget around to multiple positions

-Its CPC advertising similar to Adwords where you're paying only for performance

-Sends job seekers directly to your site to apply

-Indeed can autopopulate the source code in your ATS so you can track where the applicant came from (good for analyzing the performance of your spend)

-lower cost per hire as a result

I've been amazed at the number of hires (in all types of positions) that have come through Indeed as well as the job seeker traffic we've gained as a result.

Also, I believe they just opened their resume database to the public. If you haven't checked it out, give it a try. The interface is the best I've seen.

Arron. Thanks for the Boolean Bar mention. I've updated the bar and renamed it RecruitingBar. Thanks again and I hope you are finding it valuable.

I've included Irina's Hidden Resumes CSE's because the value of the CSE's can be great.

I have recently used Indeed and i like it better than monster and careerbuilder. Craigslist is also a good source for low level jobs.
