Boolean Strings Network

The Internet Sourcing Community

I am putting together a sourcing presentation for my recruiting team and was wondering if anyone had a sourcing syntax chart they could share? What I am looking for is something that says what operators can be used on LinkedIn, Google, Bing, etc.

EX.

                                LinkedIn      Google        Bing        Careerbuilder     Monster

"|" pipe symbol              X                 X

NOT/-                           X                  X             X                   X                 X

There are a number of them out there-

Irina has a recent one here:

Thanks Gary! I may use this data, but create my own chart to include LinkedIn, Monster & Careerbuilder info as well since my team is using these for sourcing as well.  Any idea if the "NEAR" operator works when xraying LinkedIn or on the job boards???

NEAR works in BING/Yahoo (not Google), and on Monster - not sure about Careerbuilder as it's been a while since I used that site-
It also works in Exalead :)

Where can I go to learn more about the pipe symbol?

I never use this in search strings!

Matthew-

I believe it only works in Google. It means the same as 'OR' - that's it!
