It looks like Linkedin is getting more savvy, and I do recall seeing a discussion on this somewhere. I used to be able to take a phrase from a Linkedin profile, enter it in Google and get the candidates last name. I am not able to do that anymore. Is there a better newer way to accomplish this?

Kevin - there are a number of ways.
One simple one is to take the profile of the private one and send (via the share link) it to someone (anyone) on LI & cc yourself - you will then see the name in the cc'd copy-

Kevin,
It's also worth noting that this didn't always work before, either. It only works if the person has a public profile which is indexed by search engines, that includes the last name.

...and if the public profile has the phrase that you are trying to Google. Some public profiles are pretty minimal due to the person's settings.

One easy way is, if that person has any recommendations just open the recommend person's profile and then you can find original person recommended below and open that name, so that you can find the full name.
we can also try like this, when you open a profile you can see right side corner "Viewer of this profile also viewed' where you will find some list of profiles. where we have chance to find......
